COVID19 POLICY

Dear EE Families,

The overwhelming majority of our parents and teachers have indicated that they prefer in-person classes for the Fall 2020 school year. EE also believes that in-person communication is central to the learning process and that in-person socialization is the root of community homeschooling. As a result, EE is committed to providing in-person classes whenever possible during the Fall 2020 semester.

Despite these truths, we know that the Fall 2020 semester will be different in terms of how we arrive on campus and conduct ourselves through the school day.  Unless health mandates change, we will follow the following guidelines:

  • EE will continue to screen students, teachers, parents, coop workers, siblings and other visitors upon their arrival at campus. Any individual with a fever over 100 degrees, who is showing communicable disease-like symptoms or who has had recent close contact with a person with a lab-confirmed case of COVID will be sent home.  Likewise, anyone who develops these symptoms during the school day will be isolated and sent home immediately. Please see our Communicable Disease Operating Plan and COVID-19 Policy for further detail.

  • EE will make disinfectant materials available for teachers to clean and sanitize surfaces during the instructional day. Other measures may be implemented to improve cleanliness and reduce opportunities for infection.

  • EE has chosen to allow families and instructors to pursue the level of mask wearing that falls in line with their research and beliefs. Our board has discussed and researched the topic of masks extensively. There is actually much science and evidence on both sides of the issue. Because EE highly values parental rights and personal freedom, we have chosen to support those values as best we can. We have chosen to allow our independent contractor teachers and homeschooling parents the freedom to decide how they will implement mask wearing on a class by class and family by family basis.

  • Teachers have been asked to add their mask policies to the class descriptions for their classes in Classjuggler. It is important to note that teachers have the right to require mask wearing during THEIR OWN CLASS, but that this does not apply across the entire campus or scheduled day. If you need more information about mask wearing requirements or other policies for a particular class, please contact the teacher directly by using the email listed in the class description.

  • Teachers may reconfigure their seating plans and/or cap the capacities for their classrooms depending on needs of the specific class being taught.

You can view the complete Communicable Disease Operating Plan and Waiver below. No one will be permitted to remain on the EE campus without a signed Waiver. This will apply to students, parents, teachers, co-op workers, staff, siblings or other visitors.

We feel it is important to communicate that we have piloted all of these practices in our summer camps and that we will continue to update and clarify our policies and practices based on our own experiences.

The video below summarizes our approach to dealing with Covid issues for the Fall 2020 school year. Policies and procedures are subject to change as new information becomes available.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)

Thank you,
