EXCEED COLLEGE PREP ACADEMY

University-Style Micro-School for K-12th

Exceed: to be superior or better than some standard; to go beyond expectations

Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12

EXCEED Academy is a new micro-school program at Extraordinary Education designed to be a complete, individualized, college preparatory program. Parents can choose our Core 2-Day program, which covers the basics of English, Math, Science and Social Studies, or add additional days with electives and enrichment to round out their child's schedule. Various enrollment options are available to help families manage time commitments and finances. We are also in the process of receiving accreditation for EXCEED Academy, so students who graduate from the program would be able to receive an accredited diploma and transcript.

The EXCEED program is designed to meet the needs of families looking for a full-curriculum private school alternative that offers the individualization possible through flexible courses and placement, the rigor of university-style classes, the social support and interaction of weekly classes with fellow classmates, the spiritual support of a Christian school atmosphere, the personal attention of small class sizes, the family support of a hybrid home-school schedule and parent involvement, and the the educational support of a learning coach and personal mentor.

In this unique student-oriented program, students will attend EE core and enrichment classes 2 or more days per week plus a minimum of one hour per day study session with their Exceed Mentor to review assignments, plan study schedules, work on assignments and receive assistance as part of their complete package. Regardless of the number of days attended, this is a full curriculum program including Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and a wide variety of elective options. Students will also have opportunities to participate in EE social activities, devotionals, field trips, leadership development and other EE special programs.

As a hybrid program with a certain number of "home campus" days, parents must be partners in their child's education, but the amount of parental involvement and supervision expected is much lower than for homeschooling or traditional homeschool classes. The cost of the program is higher than individual homeschool classes alone but lower than most private school options in the area. EXCEED Academy students would be enrolled in a private micro-school rather than their family homeschool.

If this option interests you, please let us know by completing the Exceed Academy Interest Form. If you are new to EE, please also make plans to attend an upcoming New Family Meeting to learn more about EE and who we are.

EXCEED Academy Basics

Students will attend a required number of "core" EE classes depending on the child's age and grade level. Specific class selections are based on the student's ability, interests and goals as well as parent and student input.

The student’s schedule must include a minimum number of required core classes from these core subject areas:

  • English, Language Arts and Writing

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Social Studies and History

Electives and enrichment classes, teams such as robotics, lunch periods, library break and additional Exceed Study Sessions can be added to your child's schedule to create a unique schedule for your child. Please note that minimum attendance requirements for class credit will apply to Exceed Academy students

As a micro-school, your child's Mentor and their individual Teachers will have primary responsibility regarding student progress in their courses. Parents will be expected to provide support and supervision on "home campus" days.

College Preparatory

Exceed Academy students will be well-prepared for success in college and life beyond college. Our Extraordinary Education core classes are rigorous and taught based on a university-style approach. Teachers are highly qualified and have experience working with students in a university-style program. On occasion, Exceed Academy students may go on field trips, do group building activities or enjoy special events and speakers as they develop a learning cohort.

Exceed Academy provides a complete personalized curriculum, a wide variety of electives & enrichment options, a part-time schedule which allows flexibility, a personal mentor & learning coach, classroom interaction and social support, grading & record-keeping, lesson planning, progress updates for parents, and development of study skills.

Academic Support

To support student success, a minimum of one hour of Exceed Academy Study Hall is required per attendance day. So a student attending classes on Monday and Wednesday would take 2 hour or Exceed Study and a child attending class Monday-Thursday would need to enroll in 4 or more hours of Exceed Study.

During Exceed Study sessions, students will meet individually with their Exceed Mentor to check up on their assignments, plan for upcoming projects and deadlines, complete course work and receive tutoring as needed. These regular check-ins will help students develop good study habits and skills such as personal goal setting and time management.

A key feature of the EXCEED program is record-keeping and advising. Mentors will assist parents with assessment, placement and course selection and help parents develop an individualized diploma plan for each child.
EE will keep records of classes taken by EXCEED Academy students and provide a  report cards and transcripts like a traditional school.
Achievement testing will be available as a part of the Exceed program, but can be individualized based on student needs and parent goals.
